Pandora in the Morning
Thought I would jump downstairs and try looking at (stuff on) my home computer while listening to my new Pandora radio station. How peaceful to hear Ella singing "With a Song in My Heart", cup of (Peet's) coffee in hand and the foggy world outside...

Flickr
Question: Apparently, we can't use our gmail acct to create a Flickr acct? It looks like we first need a Yahoo acct. I get a little nervous having to create all these accounts and then proceed to manage them, or at least remember that they exist.
Lesson 6 - Pandora and Streaming Music
Now, this step has made the whole 2.0 process worthwhile! I am listening to Ella Fitzgerald sing Cole Porter while I enter this post. I currently have Ella and Art Blakey & his Jazz Messengers registered on my radio station, but apparently Pandora adds similar artists randomly to my selections. Now, they're playing Nat King Cole. I am in music heaven! (My husband just asked me to turn the volume down; oh, well....)
Lesson 5 - RSS and Feed Readers
This evening, I registered with Bloglines through my gmail account and created 4 RSS feeds to follow: Unshelved (library comics), BBC News, MSNBC News and NPR Morning Edition. I am kind of a quasi-news junkie, but only subscribe to one print newspaper currently, so I like that the news can come to me hot off the wire through these feeds. Unshelved is a great way to remind me of the humor in some of our daily library tasks and to remind all of us that we are part of a huge library community!
I often listen to NPR Morning Edition and intend to go online to read further about a topic or to forward a program link to a family member. Having the feed come to me will be less time consuming and much easier.

Lesson 4 - Instant Messaging
I have tried the IM with 2 of my PSA cohorts. It was a blast. We sent each other YouTube library links. I believe I have done a little instant messaging prior to this lesson. When my daughter was in the UK, we used SKYPE and chatted with each other live both by voice and keyboard messaging.

Lesson 3 - Tracking Your Progress
I am still confused about the posting of "permalinks" on the log, to indicate
completion of tasks. Apparently the permalink on my blog post looks like this:
Posted by chrissie at 2:51 PM , as an example, and I just copy and paste that into
the Progress Log, as the indicator that I have posted a comment on my blog regarding a completed task.....?

Account Reference Sheet
What is an example of "account provider"? I am also confused about the password protection feature when saving to "my documents" and the logging of blog posts.
